CAMPFIRE GROUPS

POSITION: GENERAL GROUP MODERATORS & SUBSTITUTE GENERAL GROUP MODERATORS

Available Moderator Volunteer Positions:

DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking volunteer moderators for the general knit, crochet, spinning, weaving, and felting, groups. These moderators would be the contact for their particular craft area for that group. You can be at any skill level (beginner, intermediate, advanced, etc.). We do request that you have some knowledge of that skill area (i.e., if you have no idea what crochet is, for example, it will be hard to be the leader of the crochet group and represent the needs of that group to the administration team).

SUBSTITUTE: Substitute volunteer moderator for the general knit, crochet, spinning, weaving, and felting, groups. Fill in for a Campfire Group Moderator if they are unable to attend their weekly campfire group meeting.

RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:

Attend the weekly Campfire Group Meeting as the moderator. Moderator meaning if anyone has questions about that group you would be the contact person, and you are the contact person between your group and the administration.

UNLOCK the group room at the time of the meeting in the Camp Yarnsie Virtual Craft Festival Facebook Group, so community members can join the meeting. We can show you where to click to unlock the room for a meeting. We keep our rooms locked when not in use for security reasons.

TAG the members of that specific group on weekly event notifications (so they know where and what time the weekly knit nite, etc. has been scheduled for). If you do not know how to tag someone we can show you how.

TIME COMMITMENT:

1 HOUR PER WEEK

We request that you volunteer for a time period of at least 6 weeks if not more, so that this group has some stability in leadership from week to week. Substitutes are available when life happens. If you are not available to attend your weekly meeting you can contact a substitute to fill-in for you.

Substitute Time Commitment: This is a volunteer task which does not require a regular commitment as it is on a as needed basis. It would be helpful if you have a flexible schedule as you may be contacted without advanced notice. 1 Hour (which is the length of the group meeting)

POSITION:

Campfire Group Instructor/Teacher

  • Knitting

  • Crochet

  • Spinning (spindle and/or wheel)

  • Weaving

  • Felting

  • Embroidery

TIME COMMITMENT:

Depends upon the number of classes/sessions. Minimum commitment is a 1 Hour class (maximum would be a 1 hour class over an 8 week period for example – however the number of sessions depends upon the skill, etc, being taught)

DESCRIPTION:

Have you taught knitting, crocheting, spinning, felting, embroidery, and/or weaving classes? Do you have experience teaching others?

We are looking for volunteers to share their expertise and love of their crafting areas with our community. You can either teach one class or teach a specific skill or technique over a number of sessions. Want to suggest a project or pattern a group could work on together as a KAL, etc?

We love to have fun projects to work on and it is always better to work on them with friends. Submit your idea for a class on your volunteer sign-up form.

RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:

Instruct/lead the class in a skill lesson, demonstration, and/or project. You are the contact person for this group. Provide material lists, where to find the pattern (if there is a pattern), and support when members have questions.

CHAIRPERSON & COMMITTEE MEMBERS

We have quite a few spots available in these areas. These volunteers serve on a specific committee and support the chairperson in their mission.

POSITION:

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

We are looking for someone with experience coordinating our volunteers. This individual would be responsible for being the communication between the community, the volunteers, and the administration. This individual would be the contact person for any training, etc. that a volunteer might need in order to complete a task (i.e., teach me how to tag someone in a Facebook post, etc.).

TIME COMMITMENT:

Will vary from Minimum of 2-3 Hours to Maximum of 10 Hours per week

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

These volunteers connect with social communities and/or other groups and charitable organizations that we might be able to assist with. Can we make hats for preemies, can we make blankets and other supplies for the homeless, veterans, etc. to give them a comforting hug that someone is thinking of them. Can we work with other children’s groups to provide virtual activities and/or other forms of sharing our crafts with the world…the sky is the limit.

GENERAL AREAS

Other general areas include: office work, graphic design, website design, social media, marketing, researching projects and patterns, administration, etc.

VENDOR APPLICATION COMMITTEE

Please be aware – this is a volunteer position – however holders in this this position are required to assist in a minimum of up to 3 hours per week of volunteer service in our community, they are required to attend the Virtual Craft Festival all day, they must attend the Members Only Cocktail Hour & Vendor Preview Show, and they must actively attend at least 2 of their craft area Campfire Groups on a regular basis. We know that life happens and sometimes you miss events; however, we feel as community members and administration that these individuals from the community are active participants who are engaged with the community, know what is occurring within the community, and have been members of this community for a minimum of 3 months or more.

This committee consists of 2 admins and 3 regular community members. The Camp Yarnsie Virtual Craft Festival is a juried show. This means  that when a vendor applies to our festival acceptance is not guaranteed. The Vendor Application Committee meets to review all of the applications and then votes to determine who is accepted, wait-listed, and declined for our festivals. The committee reviews the requests and suggestions from the community and attempts to fill these requests from the available pool of applicants. The members of this committee are anonymous so they are not coerced or persuaded to approve a vendor that has not achieved this status on merit a
