Hand spun yarn has the typical characteristic of slight unevenness in the strands. The weight may vary slightly from worsted to aran.
It is always best practice to swatch a gauge for whatever project you choose for your yarn.
My Process:
It starts with the fiber. The materials are hand selected for each project, with quality and richness of color in mind. For this project, a hand dyed BFL roving was selected. Then the fibers were hand spun into yarn with a three ply structure.
Once spun the yarn is gently soaked in cold water with a wool wash (Eucalan) and hung to air dry in the Georgia sunshine. Once dry, they are skeined and measured as accurately as possible. Then the yarn is immediately packaged in a sealed bag, ready for shipment.
Hand washing in cool water and drying flat is recommended, even items spun with superwash wool.
